BitGo and HashKey Cloud Expand Pact to Staking, Custody and RWA Tokenization

BitGo and HashKey Cloud signed a strategic partnership on October 6 in Singapore, extending a July staking pilot into trading, custody and RWA tokenization for Asia-Pacific institutions.

Outputs

  1. BitGo and HashKey Cloud signed the strategic partnership on October 6, 2026, during TOKEN2049 week in Singapore.

  2. The deal expands a July 2026 non-custodial staking pilot into four areas: staking, trading flows, custody and RWA tokenization.

  3. Staking launches with Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL), with client assets held in BitGo custody throughout.

  4. BitGo Holdings trades on the NYSE under ticker BTGO; shares closed at $7.38 the day before signing.

  5. Services are restricted to eligible institutional clients in permitted jurisdictions across Asia-Pacific.

BitGo and HashKey Cloud signed a full strategic partnership on October 6, 2026, in Singapore during TOKEN2049 week, expanding an initial staking arrangement into trading, custody and real-world asset tokenization for institutional clients across Asia-Pacific.

The upgrade marks a shift in how the two firms work together. What began in July 2026 as a non-custodial staking pilot — a narrow test of one product — has become a four-pillar agreement covering the full institutional asset lifecycle, from acquisition and custody to yield generation and tokenization.

BitGo Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: BTGO), the custody provider in the pairing, brings qualified custody infrastructure. HashKey Cloud, operating as WanCloud Ltd., contributes validator infrastructure and a connection to HashKey's licensed operations in Hong Kong. Abel Seow and Leo Li were among the executives who signed the agreement during the Singapore conference week.

What does the partnership cover?

The agreement establishes cooperation across four distinct areas:

  • Institutional staking. HashKey Cloud now serves as a validator partner on BitGo's platform, starting with Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL). Client assets remain in BitGo's custody throughout the staking process.
  • Trading flows. The firms will cooperate on routing institutional trading activity.
  • Custody. BitGo will act as custody partner for HashKey Capital.
  • RWA tokenization. BitGo will serve as custodian for real-world asset tokenization initiatives.

Access is not universal. The services are limited to eligible institutional clients, and only in jurisdictions where the offerings are permitted — a constraint that reflects the fragmented regulatory environment across Asia-Pacific markets.

Why did a staking pilot become a full-stack deal?

The commercial logic targets a specific institutional pain point. Clients in the region, according to the framing both companies have offered, want one integrated setup rather than a different vendor for each step of the process — buying, holding, earning yield and tokenizing assets onto a blockchain.

The July pilot demonstrated that the two firms could operate together on a single product. The October agreement converts that proof point into infrastructure-level integration, with both companies stating they intend to align their regulatory frameworks and technology stacks to drive adoption in Asian markets while complying with local laws.

For BitGo, the deal deepens its institutional footprint in Asia-Pacific and extends its custody franchise into HashKey's regional network. For HashKey Cloud, it connects validator infrastructure to a US-listed custody provider, narrowing the operational gap between token issuance, trading and secure storage for regional institutions.

BitGo shares closed at $7.38 on October 5, 2026, the day before the agreement was signed.

What comes next?

The partnership's near-term test will be execution: rolling out ETH and SOL staking through the integrated stack, standing up trading-flow routing, and delivering custody arrangements for HashKey Capital and forthcoming tokenization projects — all within the jurisdictional limits the firms have set for themselves.
