Bitwise NEAR ETF Pulls Roughly $9 Million on Third Trading Day
Bitwise's NEAR ETF drew about $9 million on day three, slowing from a $35.5 million debut, as its 5% staking target faces NEAR's reduced 2.5% inflation.

The Bitwise NEAR ETF (NRR) drew approximately $9 million in net inflows on October 1, its third session on NYSE Arca, according to preliminary flow reports. The figure marks a continued, if decelerating, pace of demand for the first US spot NEAR fund, which has now accumulated roughly $62 million in assets across three trading days.
The fund listed on September 29 and opened with $35.5 million in net inflows, bringing assets under management to $36 million on day one, with trading volume of $15.1 million. The second session on September 30 added another $13.2 million, lifting AUM to $52.8 million on volume of $20.1 million. The third day's preliminary tally of about $9 million continues the streak of uninterrupted inflows, though the trend line points clearly downward: each session has brought in less new money than the last.
The staking structure sets NRR apart
The fund's defining feature is its staking program. Bitwise plans to stake nearly all of the ETF's NEAR holdings in-house, targeting an average staking reward of around 5% after expenses. That figure is a target rather than a guarantee, and the operational burden of running validator infrastructure inside an ETF wrapper distinguishes NRR from most single-asset crypto funds that have come before it.
The economics matter for investors weighing the fund's 0.75% annual management fee. If the staking target holds, the yield would more than offset the fee. But the structure also ties the fund's return profile directly to NEAR's protocol-level issuance mechanics.
That linkage deserves scrutiny. Staking rewards on NEAR come partly from new token issuance. The protocol has cut inflation to 2.5%, and the token's supply is fully unlocked. With issuance now more constrained than in prior periods, the pool funding staking rewards is smaller than it once was, which makes Bitwise's 5% after-expenses target an ambitious figure to maintain rather than a baseline to assume.
The listing followed a sharp run-up
The ETF arrived after an unusually strong stretch for the underlying asset. NEAR rallied approximately 160% in the month before the fund launched, and its market capitalization exceeded $6 billion at debut.
Much of that momentum tracked activity in NEAR's cross-chain infrastructure, known as Intents, which had processed more than $32 billion in cumulative volume before the ETF began trading. The launch therefore captured demand at a moment of elevated on-chain activity rather than a quiet period, which may partly explain the front-loaded inflow pattern: investors who wanted exposure may have positioned on day one.
What the cooling pace signals
Three consecutive sessions of positive net flows remain a solid start by the standards of newly listed single-asset crypto funds, many of which see early enthusiasm fade into flat or negative territory within weeks. But the deceleration from $35.5 million to $13.2 million to roughly $9 million raises the question of whether NRR can sustain daily inflows once the initial allocation wave passes.
The staking yield will be the variable to watch. A fund that reliably generates a net positive carry through staking could hold structural appeal for institutional allocators comparing it against non-yielding alternatives, provided NEAR's reduced inflation does not compress the reward pool below Bitwise's target. The coming weeks of flow data, plus the fund's first disclosed staking results, will show whether the 5% after-expenses objective survives contact with the protocol's current issuance parameters.
