Mirae Asset Securities' Hong Kong unit has issued six-month floating-rate notes tokenized on Solana, marking the South Korean brokerage's latest move to distribute structured products through blockchain rails. Singapore-based Marketnode, a digital market infrastructure operator, acted as authorized distributor on the transaction, according to Wednesday's announcement.
The notes were issued under the firm's $3 billion structured note program and sold to institutional investors. Mirae Asset Securities managed token issuance, coupon payments and the notes' full lifecycle using its internal digital infrastructure, rather than outsourcing those functions to a third-party tokenization platform.
Why does issuance on Solana matter?
The choice of Solana as the settlement chain extends institutional tokenized-note issuance beyond the Ethereum-based pipelines that dominate the market. For Mirae Asset, the transaction doubles as a test case: the company said the deal could provide a working model for distributing a wider range of structured products through blockchain-based channels to institutional buyers.
Keeping issuance, payments and lifecycle management on in-house infrastructure gives the brokerage direct control over the tokenized product stack. That operational setup matters for structured notes, where coupon resets, maturity events and redemption flows must reconcile precisely with the on-chain record over the instrument's six-month term.
Who is Mirae Asset Securities?
The securities firm is part of South Korea's Mirae Asset Financial Group, whose businesses span brokerage, investment banking, asset management and insurance. The group has been expanding into digital assets throughout 2025.
In July, group affiliate Mirae Asset Consulting acquired a controlling stake in South Korean crypto exchange Korbit, which has since rebranded to Digital X. The tokenized-note issuance through Hong Kong extends that digital-asset push from exchange ownership into capital-markets infrastructure.
The group's asset management arm, Mirae Asset Global Investments, operates the Global X and TIGER exchange-traded fund brands. Its website lists $275 billion in ETF assets under management as of June 2026 and describes its ETF business as the world's 12th-largest by that measure.
What comes next for tokenized distribution?
Hong Kong's regulatory regime has actively encouraged tokenized securities, and Mirae Asset's use of the jurisdiction for its $3 billion program aligns with that framework. The involvement of Marketnode, which operates digital market infrastructure out of Singapore, also ties the transaction into the broader Asian institutional tokenization corridor connecting the two financial centers.
If the six-month notes complete their lifecycle without operational friction, the issuance could serve as a template for larger and more complex structured products distributed on-chain. The structured note market, traditionally served through private banking and interdealer channels, is emerging as one of the more concrete near-term use cases for institutional tokenization.
The transaction signals that major Asian securities houses now view blockchain-based distribution as production infrastructure rather than pilot-stage experimentation. Expect further issuance under the $3 billion program, and additional Solana-based structured products, as Mirae Asset scales the model across its regional operations in the coming quarters.
