Outputs

  1. Strategy ended Q3 with $5.07 billion in dollar assets, including a $4.83 billion cash reserve.

  2. The reserve covers roughly 3.2–3.4 years of preferred dividends and debt interest.

  3. Strategy spent about $2 billion repurchasing STRC preferred stock, restoring it near $100 par.

  4. Daily dividend accrual starts Nov. 1 for STRC and Jan. 1 for STRF, STRK and STRD.

  5. StoneX and TD Cowen retained buy ratings; MSTR fell 8.7% to $129.90 on Friday morning.

Strategy (MSTR) ended the third quarter with $5.07 billion in dollar assets, including a $4.83 billion cash reserve that analyst reports from StoneX and TD Cowen said could cover roughly 3.2 to 3.4 years of preferred dividends and debt interest.

The company also spent roughly $2 billion repurchasing STRC preferred stock. The buyback helped restore the shares near their $100 par value and demonstrated greater resilience in Strategy’s digital-credit financing model, according to the analysts. Alongside the repurchase, Strategy strengthened its balance sheet and stabilized the preferred-stock financing structure, which the analysts said improved liquidity.

MSTR fell 8.7% to $129.90 per share on Friday morning following third-quarter results, nearly 10% in one session. The common stock was down about 27% year to date, while Strategy’s bitcoin per share declined 3.7% over the same period.

The decline in bitcoin per share reflects management’s near-term allocation choice: build cash reserves and support preferred securities before adding bitcoin, analysts said. The trade-off improved financing stability, but it came at the expense of near-term bitcoin-per-share growth.

What changed in the preferred stock?

Shareholders of Strategy’s STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD preferred shares approved a change this week allowing dividends to accrue daily. The change takes effect Nov. 1 for STRC and Jan. 1 for STRF, STRK and STRD, creating a staggered rollout across the four issues.

StoneX analyst Mark Palmer wrote: “Management said the change was intended to reduce volatility, improve liquidity, broaden demand, and move the instruments in the direction of the tokenized, around-the-clock market that they are anticipating.”

The analysts tied those aims to Strategy’s broader financing operation. StoneX and TD Cowen said a more stable preferred-stock structure and materially better liquidity leave the company better positioned to resume bitcoin accumulation and increase bitcoin per share.

Why does STRC matter to common shareholders?

TD Cowen analysts wrote: “We view these developments as important primarily because deeper distribution and better liquidity could ultimately increase Strategy’s capacity to issue Digital Credit efficiently. That, rather than STRC’s trading price in isolation, remains the connection to MSTR common-equity holders.”

Their framing puts the preferred-stock repair inside Strategy’s capital-raising model. In their view, more distribution and deeper liquidity could support more efficient Digital Credit issuance, which is the operating route analysts identified for benefiting MSTR common shareholders.

The common-share reaction on Friday was negative, but the analysts’ constructive view rested on financing capacity rather than STRC’s standalone trading price. Bitcoin per share remained 3.7% lower year to date as reserves and preferred-securities support took priority over accumulation.

What should investors watch next?

StoneX reiterated its buy rating on MSTR, and TD Cowen maintained its buy rating. Their shared case rests on three measurable elements: a reserve covering 3.2 to 3.4 years of preferred dividends and debt interest, STRC trading near par after the buyback, and daily accrual for all four preferred issues.

The next dated test is Nov. 1, when daily accrual begins for STRC; STRF, STRK and STRD follow on Jan. 1. Whether better liquidity translates into resumed bitcoin buying and renewed bitcoin-per-share growth will be the operating test for the repaired financing structure.
