OKX launches consumer app with 10% USDG yield and stablecoin card

OKX has launched OKX Money, a consumer app that lets eligible users convert 50-plus local currencies into USDG, USDC or USDT and earn up to 10% APY on eligible USDG balances.

Outputs

  1. OKX launched OKX Money on Tuesday, supporting USDG, USDC and USDT balances across more than 50 local-currency on-ramps.

  2. Eligible USDG holdings earn up to 10% APY without lockup or staking; up to 10% cashback is available on eligible purchases.

  3. Tracked crypto-card spending exceeded $1 billion this year as exchanges push stablecoin balances into consumer transactions.

  4. OKX holds a Maltese payments-institution license secured earlier this year for European stablecoin and card services.

  5. OKX ranks third globally by CoinGecko with 24-hour trading volume above $2.2 billion.

OKX launched a consumer finance app, OKX Money, that lets eligible customers convert more than 50 local currencies into USDG, USDC or USDT and spend those balances through a virtual or physical payment card, the exchange said Tuesday.

Qualifying users can earn up to 10% annual percentage yield on eligible USDG holdings without lockup or staking requirements. The app also offers up to 10% cashback on eligible purchases and referral rewards, though rates, eligibility and product availability vary by location. OKX did not disclose initial launch markets or identify the entity issuing its card program.

What does OKX Money offer?

"Hundreds of millions of people have been excluded from dollar-denominated savings and frictionless global spending because the infrastructure was never built for them," OKX said in its Tuesday statement.

Users in participating markets can fund accounts with local currencies, hold USDG, USDC or USDT, transfer stablecoins to other users, and switch among supported tokens without conversion fees. The card supports purchases abroad with no foreign-exchange fee or markup, according to the company. OKX described the app as the first step in a longer product roadmap.

The product is structured for non-crypto users. The interface abstracts the blockchain layer, positioning the service as a digital-dollar account rather than a token-trading wallet.

How does the yield compare?

The 10% APY ceiling on USDG outpaces comparable consumer offerings. Coinbase One currently advertises between 3.75% and 5% on USDC, depending on membership tier and region. Binance Pay combines stablecoin holdings with global spending and zero-fee cross-border transfers. Bybit Card and Savings pairs fiat-to-stablecoin conversion with Mastercard-backed spending.

OKX did not specify the funding source for the 10% USDG rate.

What regulatory groundwork is in place?

OKX secured a Maltese payments-institution license earlier this year to support European stablecoin and card services. The license places the European business within Malta's supervised payments regime. OKX did not name the card issuer or specify which entity provides the program.

The exchange ranks third globally by 24-hour trading volume on CoinGecko, with turnover above $2.2 billion at the time of the announcement.

What's the market context?

Tracked crypto-card spending exceeded $1 billion this year as exchanges and payments companies race to convert stablecoin balances into everyday consumer transactions. Major stablecoin issuers have increasingly framed dollar tokens as payment rails rather than trading instruments.

OKX Money targets markets where local currencies can be volatile and access to U.S.-dollar savings, global cards or cross-border payments is limited or costly. The exchange did not specify which regions fall within that initial footprint.

OKX did not identify launch jurisdictions or the card-issuing partner. As the app rolls out to unspecified participating markets, the open question is whether the 10% USDG yield can scale without further disclosure of its funding source.
