Securitize's Tokenized Stock Value Halves as Circle Retakes Lead

SECZ tokenized stock market cap fell from $430.4M on Sept. 28 to $208.6M by Sunday, per Token Terminal.
Circle-linked tokens rose about 20% to $383.6M, reclaiming the lead in the $3.3B tokenized equities market.
Securitize shares closed Friday down 2.1% at $7.80 on NYSE, a $1.27B market cap; Citi downgraded SECZ to Neutral on Oct. 13.
Binance's CRCLb on BNB Chain is the largest Circle-tracking token at $154.1M; SECZ remains the largest single tokenized stock.
Securitize launched its stock trading platform on Solana on Oct. 8 after its July 2 NYSE listing.
Securitize's tokenized shares have lost more than half their onchain market value in under a month, with the market capitalization of SECZ tokens falling from a peak of $430.4 million on Sept. 28 to $208.6 million by Sunday, according to Token Terminal data. Over the same window, tokens tracking Circle's NYSE-listed stock gained roughly 20% to reach $383.6 million, reclaiming the top spot in the $3.3 billion tokenized equities market.
The divergence marks a reversal in market structure. Securitize brought its own common shares onchain alongside its July 2 NYSE listing, becoming the largest tokenized equity at the time. That position has now eroded, and leadership has shifted from a single issuer product to a distributed set of Circle-tracking tokens issued across multiple platforms.
What drove the slide?
The onchain decline tracked a sell-off in Securitize's underlying shares on the NYSE. The stock closed Friday down 2.1% at $7.80 apiece, giving the company a conventional market capitalization of $1.27 billion.
The sell-off erased gains that followed the Oct. 8 launch of Securitize's stock trading platform on Solana. Citi added pressure on Oct. 13, downgrading SECZ from Buy to Neutral amid concerns about tokenization revenue.
Put plainly, the numbers moved in opposite directions for the two firms' tokenized products. SECZ shed roughly $222 million of onchain market value in under four weeks — an average of about $55 million per week. Circle-linked tokens added roughly $64 million over the same period, according to Token Terminal.
What does this change for issuers?
Securitize occupies a distinct role in the market: it helps asset managers, including BlackRock, issue securities on blockchains. Its own tokenized equity served as a flagship demonstration of that infrastructure. A halving of the token's market value does not directly impair the issuance business, but it weakens the showcase.
The competitive picture is more nuanced than the headline figures suggest. SECZ remains the largest individual tokenized stock, because Circle's $383.6 million total is spread across products from several issuers rather than concentrated in one token. Binance's CRCLb on BNB Chain leads those offerings at $154.1 million.
For practitioners, the operational takeaway concerns concentration and distribution. A single-issuer token can lose leadership quickly when comparable exposure is available across multiple chains and platforms. Issuers weighing their own tokenized listings now have a live case study in how quickly onchain market share can rotate between structures.
What comes next?
The $3.3 billion tokenized equities market remains early, and leadership has now changed hands at least twice since July. With Citi's downgrade anchoring a more skeptical read on tokenization revenue, the next test for Securitize is whether the Solana trading platform can translate into measurable issuance and trading volumes — and whether SECZ tokens stabilize relative to the sliding underlying shares.
