Strategy Posts $19.5B as Preferred Accrual Goes Daily
Strategy posted $19.53 billion in quarterly net income on a $20.91 billion bitcoin gain; four preferred-stock series approved daily dividend accrual, and Reza Virasteh is set to become CFO.

Strategy reported $19.53 billion in third-quarter net income, up from $2.79 billion a year earlier, after its bitcoin holdings generated a $20.91 billion gain, according to the company’s quarterly results.
What drove the $19.5 billion?
The $20.91 billion gain from the rising value of Strategy’s bitcoin holdings drove record operating income, although the company did not disclose that operating-income figure or provide a full bridge to net income. Strategy held 848,517 bitcoin as of Oct. 25, up 26% year to date, placing the treasury position at the center of the reported result.
Revenue from Strategy’s software business fell 3% year over year to $125.4 million. The disclosure did not provide total consolidated revenue, so it does not show what share of company-wide revenue the software business represented.
Takeaway: The gain from rising bitcoin values produced the headline profit while software revenue declined.
How did the preferred-share schedule change?
Holders of STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD approved an amendment allowing dividends to accrue daily rather than under the previous schedule. The amendment received 99.3% of votes cast, according to results shared by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor.
- STRC’s first record date is Nov. 1, with payment scheduled for Nov. 2.
- STRF, STRK and STRD will use a Jan. 1 record date and Jan. 4 payment.
- After those initial dates, every calendar day becomes a record date, with payment on the next business day.
Daily accrual changes when the dividend entitlement is calculated, not when cash reaches investors. Even under the new structure, investors must track weekends and other non-business days because payment follows the next business day.
Takeaway: The amendment accelerates accrual, while the cash-payment cycle remains tied to business days.
What does preferred funding cost?
As the leading bitcoin treasury company, Strategy leaned on preferred-stock offerings to help fund bitcoin purchases. The company said STRC had returned to health after executing $2.04 billion of repurchases, while K33 estimated earlier this month that STRC had added $725 million to the company’s annual dividend obligations.
Translated across 365 days, the K33 estimate equals roughly $1.99 million per day. That is an annualized obligation, not a promise of same-day cash payments; the new schedule changes accrual timing, while cash still follows the next business day.
Takeaway: Preferred funding expands the dividend burden, and daily accrual changes the timing rather than eliminating the obligation.
Who replaces Andrew Kang, and what is management claiming?
CFO Andrew Kang will step down on Nov. 5, and current COO Reza Virasteh is set to become CFO in January 2027. The results did not identify an interim CFO or describe Virasteh’s transition responsibilities.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor said: “We’re at the beginning of the next bitcoin bull market.” He added: “Banks are embracing bitcoin, bitcoin’s dominance among digital assets is growing, institutional demand is back, and bitcoin price is 21% above its 200-week moving average. Digital Credit continues to grow, with $16 billion in notional value across ten publicly listed securities.”
Those figures describe market indicators and notional product value, not realized cash income. Strategy did not disclose a timetable for bank adoption or institutional demand, nor did it explain how much of Digital Credit’s notional value converts into revenue.
CEO Phong Le said Thursday: “Daily dividends are a natural step toward the tokenized, 24/7/365 financial system. Digital Credit is being built for that world, and Strategy intends to lead it.” The statement sets out a strategic ambition rather than a revenue forecast, while MSTR shares fell about 3.5% in Thursday’s after-hours trading.
Takeaway: The next checkpoints are STRC’s Nov. 2 payment, the Jan. 4 payments for STRF, STRK and STRD, and Virasteh’s CFO start in January 2027.
