Ripple Concentrates $2.7 Billion in XRPL Tokenized Assets in Brazil
About $2.7 billion of XRPL's $6.7 billion in tokenized real-world assets sits in Brazil, per RippleX's Markus Infanger, as CSD BR begins mirroring BTG Pactual fund-share records.

Markus Infanger told Estadão on Sept. 28 that $2.7 billion of $6.7 billion in tokenized real-world assets on XRPL is in Brazil.
Ripple and CSD BR announced on Sept. 29 a first phase mirroring BTG Pactual fund-share ownership records on XRPL, with CSD BR retaining the official record.
Ripple applied for a Brazilian VASP license as part of a March 2026 expansion across payments, custody, prime brokerage and treasury management.
Chainalysis ranked Brazil first in its 2026 adoption index and estimated $252.5 billion in Brazilian crypto activity from July 2025 to June 2026.
Brazil's Oct. 1 restrictions bar virtual assets from settling aggregated eFX flows between providers and foreign counterparties.
Roughly $2.7 billion of the $6.7 billion in tokenized real-world financial assets represented on the XRP Ledger sits in Brazil, RippleX executive Markus Infanger told Estadão's E-Investidor on Sept. 28. The figure places about 40% of the reported asset value in a single country and frames Brazil as the proving ground for Ripple's institutional tokenization strategy.
One day later, on Sept. 29, Ripple and CSD BR, a regulated financial market infrastructure operator, announced a first phase to mirror ownership records for BTG Pactual investment fund shares on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). CSD BR's systems remain the official record for registration, deposit and settlement, with access restricted to authorized Brazilian corporate and banking participants subject to identity and anti-money-laundering checks. XRPL tokens and Ripple custody carry the mirrored records.
What does the CSD BR deal actually change?
For now, not the legal register. The project gives Ripple a position inside existing Brazilian financial processes without making the public blockchain the authoritative securities record. Native issuance and trading are envisaged for later phases, once the mirroring process is validated.
The operational consequence is incremental rather than structural. BTG Pactual fund-share ownership data gains a parallel on-chain representation, while CSD BR retains the authoritative role. That sequencing limits near-term risk and keeps the project within existing regulatory perimeters.
How deep is Ripple's Brazilian footprint?
The CSD BR arrangement extends an expansion that began well before Brazil's current adoption ranking. Key milestones include:
- 2019: Ripple opens its Brazilian office.
- August 2022: Ripple launches XRP-enabled enterprise payments with Travelex Bank.
- October 2024: A Mercado Bitcoin partnership initially targets internal treasury transfers between Brazil and Portugal.
- July 2025: Mercado Bitcoin announces plans to tokenize more than $200 million in permissioned real-world assets on XRPL.
- March 2026: Ripple expands its institutional offering across payments, custody, prime brokerage and treasury management, and applies for a Brazilian virtual asset service provider license.
Ripple named Banco Genial, Braza Bank and Nomad among payments users, while Mercado Bitcoin, Foxbit and Ripio were among platforms listing or supporting its dollar stablecoin, RLUSD.
Chainalysis's 2026 adoption index ranks Brazil first overall for grassroots crypto adoption, second for cross-border flows, third for service flows and domestic peer-to-peer activity, and fourth for balances. The firm estimated $252.5 billion in Brazilian crypto activity between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026, while its Latin America report found the Brazilian crypto economy contracted 1.6% over the same period. The ranking reflects broad performance across four measures under a revised methodology, not the world's largest crypto market by raw dollar volume.
What comes after mirroring?
Infanger's $2.7 billion figure measures tokenized asset value represented on XRPL, not payment activity. Other Brazil-based tokenization includes VERT's credit platform, which Ripple said in October 2025 records lifecycle events, documentation and payments on XRPL and its EVM sidechain; its pension-receivables fund held more than R$200 million in net assets.
Ripple's announcements to date provide no comparable Brazil-only aggregate payment volume, RLUSD circulation or active institutional usage data, so the asset values remain the main reported scale metric.
A regulatory constraint also takes effect this month: Brazil's Oct. 1 restrictions bar virtual assets from settling aggregated eFX flows between providers and foreign counterparties, while individual international virtual-asset transfers remain permitted. Sustained transaction volumes, validation of the CSD BR mirroring phase and movement toward native issuance on XRPL will show whether Ripple's Brazilian footprint converts reported asset values into durable market structure.
